Pattern Tester Application // Fall 2018

The Bergamot Beanie

My Bergamot Beanie is a knit-in-the-round hat that features a center panel comprised of cables and simple lace yarn overs.I envision the cable being worn either front and center or slightly off centered. The rest of the hat’s body is created in a beautiful textured stitch that pulls inspiration from the “bumpy” texture of actual bergamot fruit. Textured cables and a small pop of lace, this makes for a lovely transitional autumn hat!

The application period will be open for four days and testers will be chosen and notified via email on September 18th, 2018 after 12 noon EST.

Yarn: Kenyarn, DK weight (color: Beech Tree from Semi Solid Sturgeon Collection)
Needles Used: US size 3, 4, and 6.
Notions: Cable needle (I knit cables without a cable needle, so this one is optional if you’d like), Stitch markers, row counter, tapestry needle, scissors and faux fur pom pom.
Sizes: one size
Finished measurements (in inches): 9.50” H to fit a head circumference of 20”-23”.

I’m still figuring out the average yardage, but I used approximately 75 grams of a single skein of DK weight yarn.

Knitting techniques to be used: Italian tubular cast on for 2x2 ribbing, cabling (up to 4 stitch wide cable crosses), simple lace, increases (yo, M1L, M1R), and decreases (k2tog, ssk, and p2tog).

Knitting level for this test: Intermediate or ambitious beginner wanting to practice knitting cables without a cable needle.

Test Deadline: October 2nd, 2018 by 11:59:59 PM EST (Total 2 Weeks Knitting Time)

Compensation: You will be given a copy of the pattern via email upon release. From a exclusive “Pattern-tester-only drawing”, one lucky tester will also receive an additional surprise reward.
